An Elegant Engagement Session at Hacienda Tekik de Regil

Before the vows, before the celebration, comes something quieter—but just as meaningful. I had the chance to meet Ximena and José María ahead of their wedding day for their engagement photoshoot in Yucatán, and I instantly knew this was going to be a couple whose story I’d love to tell. They chose one of the most iconic venues in the region: Hacienda Tekik de Regil, a jewel of history and grandeur that remains one of my favorite locations from the Private Haciendas collection.

Bathed in sunset light and surrounded by the hacienda’s signature yellow walls, the atmosphere felt suspended in time. The stillness of the afternoon, broken only by the soft flutter of leaves and the sound of birdsong, gave us the perfect rhythm to slow down and create something meaningful. As a wedding photographer in Yucatan, I’ve learned that these in-between moments—unrushed, quiet, golden—often reveal the essence of a couple. This session was not just about capturing who they are now, but honoring the calm before the celebration begins.
